Don’t Sanitize (Cardinal) McCarrick’s Legacy
Stephen White of Catholic University considers the removal of former Cardinal McCarrick’s coat of arms from the wall at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
“There are many reasons one might want McCarrick’s legacy scrubbed from the cathedral altogether… That is the reason, we are told, that the current Archbishop of Washington, Wilton Gregory, personally ordered the removal of McCarrick’s plaque. With all due respect to Archbishop Gregory, I think this was a mistake.”
