Man Says Cardinal McCarrick, His ‘Uncle Ted,’ Sexually Abused Him for Years (New York Times)
By Sharon Otterman- The devastating news piece that exposed Cardinal McCarrick’s abuse of a boy he had baptized. This followed the June 20 news that there was a “credible and substantiated” claim that McCarrick had abused a 16-year-old altar boy. That original allegation led the pope to prohibit Cardinal McCarrick from exercising his priestly ministry. This subsequent allegation reported by the Times presumably quickened the pace of McCarrick’s canonical trial and subsequent laicization.
