Altieri- This is a summary of the Zanchetta case right after the former vicar general, Father Juan José Manzano, came forward to say that the Vatican received information about Zanchetta’s misconduct in 2015 and 2017. The scandal over Bishop Zanchetta implicates Pope Francis because he accepted Zanchetta’s resignation (at the age of 54) and placed him in a trusted position in Rome. The Vatican denies all prior knowledge.
