Pushing Back Against the Darkness

Dialogue between bishops and survivors

On May 1, 2019, Catholic University hosted an event for around 200 people, in which 20 bishops and 20 abuse survivors were able to enter into dialogue.

The event was a blend of reflections and panel discussions provided by Spirit Fire survivors and bishops Cardinal Sean O’Malley, Bishop Edward Burns, Bishop W. Shawn McKnight, Bishop Edward S. Scharfenberger, and Bishop Chad Zielinski. It was a private event, attended by Victims' Assistance Coordinators and University scholars.

The event began with daily Mass and ended with a prayer service. It was co-sponsored by Catholic University and Spirit Fire.
